WEBSITE CONTEXT
My name is Mal (Malcolm) Graetz and I have been involved with the group from its inception in 1972. My wife Jenny (Jennifer) was also involved from 1972 and Trevor and Maureen Harris linked with the “Jesus Centre” soon after its formation. Trevor, Maureen, Jenny and myself were the only people who were actively involved from the beginning until the end in 1988.
The “Adelaide Jesus Centre” formerly began in Malvern mid October 1972 and existed until the end of 1980 by that name. The group changed its name to “Jireh Christian Community” in January 1980, having relocated to Norwood in late 1976.
The purpose of this website is to get feedback from people who were involved in some way with the group from 1971 until its winding up in 1988. This will assist in the publishing of a book that I hope will go to print in the near future.
If you have received the link to this website from me, you are free to download the text and photos with the knowledge that this site may be edited in the coming year before a book is printed. I would appreciate you informing me if you pass the link on to other former members of the “Jesus Centre” and “Jireh Community”.
The text is still in a basic ‘note and dot point’ format. Material has been drawn from my collection of minutes, elder’s notes, photos, published articles, personal letters and stories submitted by former members. If you feel certain material has been overlooked, I would appreciate any submissions to give a fuller perspective of this history.
